“As it celebrates its 80th anniversary this winter, the ski resort in France’s Isere region has been named Europe’s Best Ski Resort for 2017 by the “European Best Destinations” organization, based in Brussels, Belgium.

“This prestigious award motivates us to keep improving our services,” said Francois Badjily, director of the Alpe d’Huez tourism office. The recognition highlights the resort’s efforts to enhance its offerings and attract a more upscale clientele.

Over 58,000 people from 92 countries participated in the poll in December 2016. Alpe d’Huez, which boasts 135 Alpine pistes and is located less than 60km from Grenoble, secured 9,550 votes, surpassing other popular French resorts like La Plagne and Courchevel, as well as Kitzbuhel in Austria and Gstaad in Switzerland.

Looking ahead, Alpe d’Huez plans to invest approximately €350 million over the next five years to further expand its accommodation options and ski area, ensuring it remains a top destination for winter sports enthusiasts.”
