“After showcasing the private quarters of the Obamas, it’s now time to join the First Family of the United States in celebrating their final holiday season at the White House. President Obama and his family have unveiled their grand holiday decorations for the last time in the historic residence.
This year, they enlisted a team of Lego Master Builders to create eco-friendly decorations, featuring an impressive 200,000 Legos. The holiday theme, “”The Gift of the Holidays,”” includes 56 Lego gingerbread houses representing each U.S. state and territory, displayed in the State Dining Room, along with charming Lego gingerbread figures.
A beloved tradition, the White House Gingerbread House, is prominently featured in the State Dining Room. This year’s version is crafted from 150 pounds of gingerbread, 100 pounds of bread dough, 20 pounds of gum paste, 20 pounds of icing, and 20 pounds of sculpted sugar pieces.
In the Blue Room, a nearly 17-foot farm-grown fir tree takes center stage. One of the most iconic features of the White House during the holidays, this year’s tree celebrates “We the People” and is adorned with ribbon garland.
In the East Wing Hallway, larger-than-life replicas of the First Dogs, Bo and Sunny, are made from over 25,000 yarn pom-poms.
During the unveiling ceremony, Michelle Obama reflected on their time in the White House, saying, “”As we celebrate my family’s last holiday season in the White House, I’m thinking back to when we first came here to Washington and we promised to open this house to as many people from as many backgrounds as possible.”” She added, “”We truly want to make the White House the people’s house — particularly during the holiday season.””
From floor to ceiling, every room in the White House is filled with the festive spirit of Christmas.”
