“Aloft Hotels, part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group, is introducing the industry’s first robotic butler, A.L.O., at its Cupertino location near Apple’s corporate campus. This tech-savvy ‘Botlr’ is designed to deliver amenities to guest rooms, allowing human staff to focus on other tasks. The robot, which responds to requests with cheerful beeps and flashing lights, is aimed at appealing to millennial travelers who can ‘tip’ it with appreciative tweets.

A.L.O. has been described as having the work ethic of Wall-E, the humor of Rosie from The Jetsons, and a resemblance to R2-D2, making it hard to resist its charm. The decision to debut this robotic butler at the Cupertino location is fitting, given its proximity to Apple. The hotel is heavily integrated with Apple products, with all 123 rooms featuring Apple TVs that sync with guests’ iOS devices and iTunes accounts.

In addition to Botlr, Aloft offers other tech-forward services, including a Cool Concierge that allows guests to access information like directions and flight status via a tablet-based system without needing to interact with staff. This move highlights the growing trend towards automation in the hotel industry, catering to the needs of independent travelers seeking more streamlined experiences.”
