“Airlines are competing to elevate luxury travel this week. Following Ethiad’s announcement of its new “”Residence”” apartments in first class, Air France has introduced its own premium offering: the new ‘La Première’ first class cabin suites on their 777 jets.

“Our new La Première suite epitomizes our commitment to service excellence and the French travel experience,”” said Frédéric Gagey, chairman and CEO of Air France. “”This suite represents our intention to excel and our global ambitions.”

Each Air France 777-300 aircraft will feature four individual La Première suites, retrofitted with the following enhancements:

  • A personal 24″” touchscreen monitor, one of the largest in the industry.
  • Fully retractable armrests and a lay-flat bed that stretches over six feet long.
  • A Sofitel duvet and mattress, prepared by the cabin crew.
  • Thick light-dimming privacy curtains.
  • A private ottoman that allows another guest to join for dinner, a cocktail, or conversation.
  • Multiple private storage spaces.
  • Window blinds that close with a single switch.
  • Home-like touches, such as a bedside lamp, pillow, and an amenities kit.

To showcase the new La Première suite and its overall travel concept, Air France is hosting three international exhibitions in 2014, taking place in Shanghai from May 8 to 11, in New York from June 26 to 28, and in Paris from September 20 to 21.”
