“Airstream, the iconic travel-trailer manufacturer, has announced the production of its top-tier Land Yacht Trailer. Originally introduced as a concept last fall, this luxurious trailer is the result of an international collaboration between the Italian company Tecnoform S.p.A. and the design studio Officinia Italiana Design. The design, crafted in partnership with Mauro Micheli, a longtime designer for Riva Yachts, mirrors the elegance of a plush yacht, featuring boat-deck flooring, LED panel lighting, Corian® solid surfaces, and rich Italian fabrics.
The 28-foot Airstream Land Yacht comfortably sleeps up to five people. It includes a front bedroom, a central bathroom, and a rear social space with a galley that can be concealed when not in use. A powered bed lift provides access to hidden storage, and additional features include a power patio awning and a powered table pedestal. A quiet, ducted air system ensures perfect comfort with air conditioning, no matter where your travels take you.
The inspiration behind the Land Yacht traces back to Airstream’s founder, Wally Byam, whose love for boats led him to create a similar adventure travel experience on land. Many of Airstream’s early models had nautical names like Clipper, Liner, Wee Wind, and Flying Cloud. In his later years, Byam even designed and commissioned a custom sailing yacht named the Caravan, although he never had the opportunity to sail it around the world as he had planned.
Airstream CEO Bob Wheeler sees the Land Yacht as more than just an RV: “We believe the Land Yacht offers the brand a chance to appeal to buyers beyond the traditional RV market, attracting those who might use it as a studio, office, or lounge.”
Production of the Land Yacht will begin in July, with pricing starting at $140,000.”
