“Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraiso, with a name meaning “the windows to paradise,” lives up to its reputation as one of the world’s top resorts. After being completely rebuilt following Hurricane Odile last fall, it’s now better than ever, with expanded experiences and amenities.
The resort, which was the last luxury spot in the corridor to reopen, had been heavily damaged. But from the moment you arrive, it feels just like it always has. The owner, Ty Warner, known for Beanie Babies, insisted on recreating the resort exactly as it was. Returning guests will find familiar faces, marked by diamond pins on their lapels, and even trees replanted where they fell.
Las Ventanas is known for anticipating guests’ needs almost before they realize them. During the closure, the resort not only paid its staff full salaries but also provided gratuities and retrained them in new skills, such as additional languages and spa treatments.
During our summer visit, we were impressed by several standout features:
Tequila Tasting: With over 150 varieties in its collection, the resort offers a unique tequila experience. We enjoyed a blind tasting of blanco, reposado, añejo, and mezcal tequilas paired with small bites. At the end, we received a custom certificate and a taste profile linked to our reservation, so staff could recommend the perfect drinks for us.
Pampered Pets: At Las Ventanas, pets receive royal treatment from dedicated “Dog Butlers.” They offer beach walks, customized menus, special massages, and even “doga” classes. There’s even been a special massage for an African parrot!
Farm-to-Table Dining: The resort’s signature restaurant features an elegantly casual approach with dishes inspired by family recipes and travels through Mexico. They focus on using local, seasonal produce and meats. The ceviche and sushi bar near the spa is also a great spot for a midday meal or snack.
Outstanding Spa: The spa at Las Ventanas is exceptional, located in a serene garden. Treatments start with fresh fruit and tea in a shaded palapa. We tried the new “Signature” massage, a blend of Swedish and Hawaiian techniques, and enjoyed additional treatments like a cleansing by an in-house healer or a Mayan-inspired twilight ceremony.
Poolside Perks: By the pool, guests can enjoy complimentary homemade treats like chocolate sorbet cups and lemongrass popsicles from roaming ice cream carts. There are also cool buckets of water, Evian mists, and attentive pool butlers. You can spend the day lounging with pre-stocked iPods or raise the flag on your hammock to signal when you want to be woken up by your butler.
Presidential Suites: The beachfront and oceanfront suites, each over 5,000 square feet, offer unparalleled luxury. These 12 villas come with private butler service, complimentary breakfasts, and added privacy.
Golf in the Dunes: Through a special partnership with Diamante Cabo San Lucas, guests in the Signature Villa can access two top golf courses: El Cardonal, designed by Tiger Woods, and the Dunes Course, a links-inspired course by Davis Love III. A Diamante golf professional hosts guests for a memorable round of golf with stunning Pacific Ocean views.”
